Play, whether indoor or outdoor, is very important for the physical and mental development in children. They learn to face the world by interacting with their friends at playtime. It improves their self-esteem and confidence. To keep our children healthy, the right kind of playground equipment should be introduced to them. Let's see what playground items should be bought for our little ones.
There is much playground equipment available for activities like climbing, spinning, hanging, sliding and balancing. Each of these has its own importance in play. A right proportion of these items make great playgrounds for kids. Read along to know more about each type of playground equipment.
Climbing: Climbing equipment is the most popular among all the playground items. It is available in different designs, shapes and sizes. It entertains kids as well as provides them with a good amount of exercise. Climbing equipment comes in three different designs and configurations. Climbing walls, cargo nets or monkey bars can be installed in their playgrounds depending on the age of the kids.
Balancing: See-saws, balance beams and stepping stones are the common types of balancing equipment installed in playgrounds for kids. Since they are ground based items, they may not need constant supervision. You may also introduce spring discs and swinging logs for more challenging activities.
Spinning: Spinning equipment is not found much in today's playgrounds. The traditional spinning equipment has been replaced by sliding items so that kids are safe while at play. However, some commercial playgrounds have large discs with a dip in the middle.
Sliding: Sliding equipment is very common in every playground. Slides are available with and without climbing frames. Kids never get bored of playing with them. Slides are mostly made of plastics and sheet metal. These days slides with curves and tunnels are found which make them more attractive to kids. However, young kids should be supervised while they play in high slides so that they don't cause injury to themselves and others.
Hanging: This type of playing equipment is challenging compared to the other playground items. The most common type of spinning equipment is monkey bars. Parallel bars, swinging type bars and solid bars are seen in most of the playgrounds. Kids enjoy competing with each other swinging on these bars. Hanging items also improve the strength of the kids.
Once all the required playground equipment is purchased, you may get some outdoor park furniture like benches and picnic tables. Kids may use them to relax or take breaks while playing. Playground amenities like trash receptors and bike racks can also be installed in playgrounds. It is also important to ensure that the surface of the playgrounds is safe. http://www.aaastateofplay.com/recycled-rubber-mulch-2000-lb-super-sack-p-492.html is the most commonly used mulch for covering the playground surface to avoid severe injuries in children.
